The Cities & Business Forum held at the 2019 C40 World Mayors Summit was the first of its kind to gather urban public and private sector leaders to address the climate crisis in our cities. The Forum sent an important message: city and business leaders want to collaborate and deliver united climate action, and cooperation between them is crucial to achieving the 1.5ºC goal of the Paris Agreement.
This year’s event takes place on 20–21 October and will gather 300 decision-makers, experts and influential speakers to discuss the urgent need for collaboration on city climate action. Moving beyond commercial relationships, genuine city-business collaboration offers opportunities to implement locally anchored climate action plans and build resilient economies and communities.
We will explore how public and private stakeholders can work together to deliver ambitious climate action that improves residents’ wellbeing, creates sustainable economic prosperity, and accelerates the transition to a low-carbon economy. The Forum will focus on four key areas:
