The City of Buenos Aires has been an active member of C40 since 2006 and has been part of the C40 Steering Committee under the leadership of Mayor Horacio Rodríguez Larreta since 2020.
Over the years, Buenos Aires has taken bold, inclusive action on climate breakdown by signing up to several C40 high-impact declarations and opening up data on clean energy generation, sustainable mobility and waste management. The city’s Climate Action Plan commits to halving carbon emissions by 2030, increasing resilience and inclusivity, and becoming climate neutral by 2050.
As C40 Summit hosts, Buenos Aires will present a range of successful and inspiring climate solutions that give voice to different perspectives within Latin America and the Global South, engage youth climate advocates in the process, and support greater public-private partnership.
Summit side events organised by the city will showcase innovative, meaningful and inclusive climate action, alongside a cultural programme that celebrates the city’s vibrant culture, identity and diversity.
